Privacy Policy

Last updated: 20 October 2026

This policy explains what personal information Jaunt collects, why we collect it, who we share it with and what your rights are. We have tried to keep it short and in plain English.

1. Who we are

Jaunt is run by Jaunt Travel Limited, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17511431). Our registered office is 167-169 Great Portland Street, London, England, W1W 5PF.

Jaunt Travel Limited is the “controller” of your personal information. This means we decide how it is used and we are responsible for looking after it. We are registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), registration number ZC278093.

If you have any questions about this policy or your information, contact us at hello@jaunt-travel.io or our contact form.

2. What this policy covers

This policy covers the Jaunt app at app.jaunt-travel.io, our website at jaunt-travel.io, and our help, demo and design sites. Together we call these “Jaunt”.

3. The information we collect

Information you give us

  • Account details: your name, your mobile number and its country, and a profile photo if you add one.

  • Trip details: everything you add to a trip. This includes the trip name and cover photo, places, dates, votes, places to stay (with links and prices), travel plans (such as flight numbers, booking references, times, terminals, luggage, costs and meeting points), and postcodes you enter to plan a taxi.

  • Checklist ticks: whether you have ticked off items such as a passport, visa, EHIC, ESTA, travel insurance or eSIM. We only store the tick. We never ask for or store copies or numbers of your documents.

  • People you invite: the name and mobile number of anyone you invite to a trip.

  • Messages to us: if you contact us through the app, your email address, your message, the type of message (question, feedback or bug) and basic details about your device and browser. If you use the contact form on our website, your name, email address and message.

Information we collect automatically

  • Sign-in information: a cookie and browser storage that keep you signed in, and the date you joined. See our Cookie Policy.

  • Activity in a trip: things like who added or voted for what, and reminders (“nudges”) sent between members, so the trip’s activity feed works.

  • Technical information: like most online services, our servers record basic technical details such as your IP address, browser type and the time of each request. We use this to keep Jaunt running and secure.

  • Usage statistics: we use Umami, a privacy-friendly analytics tool, to count visits and see which features are used. Umami does not use cookies and does not track you across other websites. Our websites also use Cloudflare Web Analytics and Framer’s built-in statistics, which work the same way.

Information about other people

When you invite someone, you give us their name and mobile number. Please only invite people who would expect to hear from you about the trip. We use their number to text them the invite and to link them to the trip if they join.

4. How we use your information and why

UK data protection law says we must have a reason (a “lawful basis”) for each way we use your information. Here are ours:

  • To create your account, sign you in with a text message code and run the app: because we need to, to provide Jaunt to you (contract).

  • To share your trip details with the other members of your trip: because that is what Jaunt is for (contract).

  • To text invites to people you invite: because it is in your interest, and theirs, to plan the trip together (legitimate interests).

  • To answer your messages and fix problems: to provide Jaunt to you (contract) and because we have a legitimate interest in helping our users.

  • To keep Jaunt secure and prevent misuse: legitimate interests.

  • To understand how Jaunt is used and improve it, using usage statistics that do not identify you: legitimate interests.

  • To meet our legal obligations, for example keeping records or responding to lawful requests from authorities: legal obligation.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use it for advertising, and we do not make decisions about you using automated processes that have legal or similarly significant effects.

5. Who can see your information

Other members of your trips

People in the same trip can see your name, profile photo and what you add or vote for in that trip, and whether you have ticked off checklist items. Once you have signed up, your mobile number is not shown to other members. Before you sign up, members of a trip you have been invited to can see the number you were invited with, so they can edit or resend the invite.

Companies that help us run Jaunt

We use trusted service providers (“processors”) who handle information for us, only on our instructions:

  • Railway: hosts the app, its database and uploaded photos.

  • Twilio: sends text messages (sign-in codes and invites).

  • Resend: sends emails when you contact us through the app.

  • Cloudflare: runs our domain names, protects our sites and hosts our help, demo and design sites.

  • Framer: hosts our website, including the contact form.

  • Umami: usage statistics, without cookies.

Lookup services

Some features look things up for you. To do this we send only the details needed, not your name or number:

  • Flight details: the flight number and date go to AeroDataBox (through RapidAPI) to fill in times and airports.

  • Taxi routes: the postcodes you enter go to postcodes.io and openrouteservice (run by HeiGIT) to work out the route.

  • Trains: station names and dates go to Transport for London’s journey service.

  • Stock photos: some pictures load from Pexels, which can see your IP address when your browser loads them.

Others

We may share information if the law requires it, to protect the rights and safety of our users or others, or if Jaunt Travel Limited is sold or merges with another business. If that happens, we will tell you.

6. Where your information is stored

Our app, database and uploaded photos are hosted in the European Union (Amsterdam, Netherlands). UK law treats the EU as giving data the same level of protection as the UK. Some of our service providers, such as Twilio, Resend and Cloudflare, are based in or use servers in other countries, including the United States. When information leaves the UK, we make sure it is protected by safeguards approved under UK law, such as the UK-US Data Bridge or the ICO’s International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum.

7. How long we keep it

  • Account details: until you delete your account.

  • Trip details: until the trip’s owner deletes the trip.

  • Messages to us: for as long as we need them to help you and keep a record of what was agreed.

  • Technical logs: for a short time, for security and fixing problems.

When you delete your account, we remove your name, profile photo and mobile number, and you can no longer sign in. Things you added to shared trips, such as votes or travel plans, stay in those trips for the other members but are no longer linked to you. If you owned a trip, it passes to another member.

8. Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

  • ask for a copy of your personal information

  • ask us to correct information that is wrong or incomplete

  • ask us to delete your information

  • ask us to limit how we use your information

  • object to us using your information because of our legitimate interests

  • ask for your information in a format you can take to another service

You can change your name, photo and mobile number, and delete your account, in the app under Account. For anything else, contact us at hello@jaunt-travel.io or our contact form. We will reply within one month. We may need to check who you are first.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us so we can try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk, 0303 123 1113).

9. Keeping your information safe

We use encrypted connections (HTTPS), one-time sign-in codes instead of passwords, secure cookies and access controls to protect your information. No online service can be completely secure, but we work hard to protect it and will tell you and the ICO if a serious breach happens.

10. Age limit

Jaunt is for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you think a child has signed up, contact us and we will delete their account.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will change the date at the top, and if the changes are important we will tell you in the app before they take effect.
